Hello, readers!
Although several departments under the University of Bloomsburg have various blogs and websites, this has not been true of the English Department - at least, not until now. As of the spring semester of 2018, an internship proposal saw a need to market the events affiliated with the department and establish our own name on social media.
This, dear readers, is where we all begin.
Ideally, this space is not going to be only for alumni and the occasional curious student who stumbles along. Crazy semester schedules notwithstanding, this should be a place dedicated to our faculty, to potential students, and (of course) to current students who need to keep up with what's going on. Posters only ever get so many cursory glances, and emails too frequently get buried under all the reminders of the papers you just uploaded, the tuition that needs paid, and the textbook websites promoting their free trial tutoring sessions. We get it - we are right there beside you, still deleting all of the extra emails from two semesters ago.
This is a remedy attempt: organization geared to the needs of the English Department. Upcoming workshops? We'll cover when and where they're happening and provide a summary for those who couldn't make it. Scholarships and work studies? Let's talk about where to look and what's coming up. What are our current majors doing and what are their goals? We hope to have some interviews getting our hopes out into the world. One of our faculty members just published something huge? Of course, we want to be able to check it out!
If all goes well, this potentially will become an internship project that will get passed along, semester to semester. However, this will depend on the feedback this blog gets and the events that get planned. Please spread the word - and welcome back for a successful, enjoyable semester!
